Setting Up A File

How do I setup a file for production?

To send us your file, please submit a PDF, EPS, PSD or TIFF

Resolution should be at 300dpi or greater, this will greatly affect the quality of the print if it's created properly or merely pulled off the internet.

                   300 dpi                               Internet Quality

There should also be some specified areas set up if sending us a files such as a business card or a postcard.

Bleed Area - Anything beyond the red box is bleed. This provides extra ink coverage during the trimming process to eliminate unwanted white space.

Trim Area - Anything beyond the red box is considered bleed, this is trimmed off during the trimming process.

Safe Area - Anything inside the green box is insured not to be trimmed by any means.

Registration Marks - These help the pressman align press so all colors register with each other.

Crop Marks - These marks show the printer where to trim the document to.

Color

When Submitting us a file, if you are going to do Spot Pantone colors, we will need it set up so we can run it out separated which creates a single row of equally spaced dots at different sizes called a halftone.

When running full color process, it uses this similar technique but overlays the cyan, magenta, yellow and black to create rosettes to simulate the color.

Spot Process

When your file is set up properly and ready to be submitted, please send us the file with all the images and fonts included in the document. These are all needed to complete your order properly.

Fonts must be embedded in PDF files.

Some fonts have licensing restrictions in PDF's.

EPS files must have fonts outlined.

AI files must have fonts outlined.

InDesign files must have fonts packaged.

If your file has a white border around it, please leave a 1/4 inch white space around document and 3/8 inch on top for press gripper. Please be aware that during the cutting process slight shifting may cause borders to become uneven.
